St. Lucia

WHAT'S TO LOVE

A classically tropical beauty, St. Lucia is blanketed in green rainforests, scalloped with beaches of all colors (most dramatic are the volcanic black sand beaches), and punctuated by the Pitons, signature twin peaks that define the island’s "skyline." Nature has been generous with the island. Flowers and banana trees bloom in abundance and more than 300 species of birds inhabit the forests, including the rare jacquot parrot. Many of the small offshore islands are nature preserves. Centuries-old plantation great houses dot the countryside. There's even a "drive-in" volcano where you can cruise past bubbling pits of steaming sulfur.

WHAT'S WEDDING WORTHY

Tucked into 85 acres on the southern coast of St. Lucia is the popular all-inclusive Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. Mirrored after the twin Piton Mountains, the resort has two resorts in one. There's the adults-only Harmony and Splash which is for families. Rooms in Harmony have private balconies with premium rooms located on the fourth floor of the resort. Couples have many options at the resort to say “I do.” However, don't overlook the historic Cape Moule ã Chique Lighthouse—just a short drive from the resort—on the southernmost corner of the island. The resort will make all arrangements for this incredible site.

SPECIAL TOUCHES

Every Friday you can eat and drink and dance the night away at the mother of all street parties, the weekly “Jump Up” in the village of Gros Islet. Or, perhaps hire an local guide to lead the way up the 2,600-foot Gros Piton, a challenging mountain hike you can't ignore.
